Low pressure: Chennai likely to get heavy rain starting Wednesday night – Times of India

CHENNAI: Chennai is likely to receive heavy rain starting Wednesday night as a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is moving closer to the coast.
The Met department has forecast the possibility of light thunderstorms with moderate rain in the range of 5mm to 15mm per hour till 4pm on Wednesday in north and core areas of the city.
Thunderstorms with heavy to very heavy rain is likely in isolated places in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet, Cuddalore and Villupuram areas on Thursday. Fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea, said deputy director general of regional meteorological centre S Balachandran in a press meet on Wednesday.
Delta districts and Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram,
Villupuram, Madurai, Sivaganga, Tiruvannamalai, Salem, Virudhunagar, Pudukottai, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Theni, Dindigul, Karur,
Trichy, Tenkasi and Ariyalur districts will also receive heavy rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
The forecast for Chennai for 24 hours said, “Sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places.”
