No digital banners if rule not followed: Madras high court – Times of India

Chennai News

CHENNAI: The Madras high court on Tuesday directed the state government not to permit the erection of digital banners and placards without compliance of rules legislated in 2011.
The compliance of the rules shall be made by the authorities under whose jurisdiction the digital banner or placard is to be placed. While granting permission, direction would be for compliance of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies (Permission for Erection of Digital Banners and Placards) Rules, 2011, it said.
The first bench of acting Chief Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari and Justice P D Audikesavalu passed the interim order on a PIL moved by E R Mohanraj.
When the pleas came up for hearing, the court was informed that E Dinesh, a minor, was electrocuted after erection of pole to put up a flex. Though the contractor who engaged the boy paid Rs 1.5 lakh to his family, the petitioner wanted the court to direct payment of adequate compensation. The bench directed the petitioner to give particulars of the contractor and the mother of the deceased to implead them as party respondents and adjourned the hearing to December 22.
