Chennai Weather Today Live Updates, December 12, 2022: The IMD on Monday predicted that the well-marked low pressure lying over interior north Tamil Nadu is set to bring heavy rainfall to Chennai and its neighbouring districts today. Schools and colleges in Chengalpet was ordered to close for the remaining half-a-day because of continuous rains. For the next 24 hours, sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy with intermittent spells of moderate rain.
The IMD on Sunday announced that the low-pressure is said to bring light to moderate rain in parts of Chennai and heavy to very heavy rainfall in Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Kallakurichi, Karur, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Theni, thenkasi, Tirupattur, Tiruvallur, Thiruvannamalai and Vellore. Cyclonic storm Mandous turned into low-pressure on Saturday after making its land fall on Friday night on North Tamil Nadu coast.
In other news, India and Sri Lanka are all set to revive an important connectivity link with the resumption of flights between Chennai and Jaffna from Monday. Alliance Air, an Air India subsidiary, has announced that it will operate the service four times a week. The air link, first revived in November 2019 after more than four decades, ran for just four months before the Covid-19 pandemic shut down international borders and travel in March 2020.
