Chennai news live updates Oct 11, 2022: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin’s remark on a “language war” if Hindi was imposed and his interpretation on the language issue is fallacious as several recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language augurs well to promote regional languages, Tamil Nadu BJP state vice president Narayanan Thirupathy claimed on Tuesday. Stalin’s understanding of the subject was based on media reports. The committee’s recommendation, in fact, paves way for making the regional languages, especially Tamil, as a language of communication between the Centre and Tamil Nadu, he noted.
State Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said that they will not allow any ideology to make its way to schools after a purported video of an RSS training programme at a corporation-run school at RS Puram in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore triggered a row. Addressing reporters, Poyyamozhi said chief educational officers (CEOs) have been asked to pay extra attention to corporation-run schools in cities like Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore though they are run by the respective civic bodies.
The Tamil Nadu government has allowed the bursting of less-polluting and low sound-generating crackers during two fixed time windows on Deepavali. The advisory issued by the chairperson of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) Monday said the Supreme Court in 2018 had instructed the manufacturers to manufacture crackers by using raw materials that reduce the emission level besides directing them to make and sell ‘green crackers’ in the future.
